longing for an "atelier d'artiste"...

We spent the weekend in Brussel (which was great by the way!) and this was the view from our hotel room...

And this is the part that got my entire attention...

... from the moment I saw this rooftop studio, I wanted to have the same one in my own town/in my own house! (in better condition if possible!) Can you imagine how great it would be to turn it into a studio? A real "atelier d'artiste"!

So I've been looking for some inspiring photos on the internet...

And now I just NEED one... can you blame me? ;)

have a nice week!

I'M TAKING A BREAK

- vase by Atelier LZC / photo: Lara Brehm -

I have decided I need to take a break from blogging for some weeks... I have too many things to do and as you have seen I haven't been blogging for some days now, so I just wanted to let you know that I'm off for a while. I promise to try my best to be back ASAP but I'm not sure how much time I need to handle everything so let's say, I'll keep you posted! :)

Meanwhile enjoy this lovely summer design on ceramic... - vase by Atelier LZC

Venice!

So today we're off to Venice! And... it's carnival there right now! Can't wait to see all the beautiful masks and costumes! I've always dreamt to go and today it will finally happen! :)
Have a nice week-end! See you next week with hopefully a lot of pictures to show you!

this picture was not taken by me, I found it on photo-venise.com and found it beautiful!

inspiration: our garden in Southern Italy

Last thursday we were left without electricity for almost the whole day, so no internet and no computer... luckily enough the weather was amazing and it wasn't even cold so I spent a long time outside, discovering all the hidden treasures of the garden we are so fortunate to live in... how can you not be inspired by such beautiful forms and colors?!

ps: sadly the uploading to the internet makes a big color difference... they are much brighter in the original files.

Gallipoli...

... is a city that is about 15 minutes away from where we live in South Italy, the historical center/harbor is a lovely place to take a walk on a sunny morning, watching the fishermen coming back from the sea and emptying their nets... aaah life can be wonderful here!

time for a little holiday again!

After 4 very busy days (with a lot of non-fun stuff to do...) it's time for a little holiday again! We have another 3 days weekend here in France and I'm leaving for Germany tomorrow first thing in the morning! I bet I'd get the double of work done if each week was only 4 days long and rewarded with a 3 days weekend!!! Anyway, sun is shining and I'm longing for summer... I think this illustration would make a nice card to send during summer holidays...

inspiration: our room in Brugge...

It's been 3 days we're back in France now but my head is still a bit on holiday in Belgium... Here are some pictures of our wonderful room in Brugge, I loved the decoration and it felt very inspiring and relaxing to be living there for 3 days! The design below was inspired by the room's environement though I changed the colors a bit and added the little fellows to it :)

Inspiration: Heather Moore

Heather Moore made my day with a very inspiring post about old keys over at her Skinny Laminx blog! She tells about how she met Beryl who gave her a lot of keys she had kept for many years.

I have a slightly different but yet quite similar story: I live with my mother and brother in a very old house charged with a lot of history, a lot of changes (it was an Artist's house in the 1920's, then it was turned into several appartments and now it has been put back together into a single house for about 20 years) and it's LOT of keys, that have been used and kept over the years...

Here is a picture I took last year for some photography project. You can see some of the keys on it. But now I have been inspired by Heather I think I might have a second look at them and come up with an illustrative/drawn design or pattern!

Thanks Heather! :)
